My name is Chloe, I am the owner of Neat n Shiny cleaning services based here in South Australia.
I always get asked, why cleaning? What made you start this business?
The truth is, I’ve always been a neat freak but that quickly changed when I experienced severe postpartum depression and anxiety after having my first child. Something I used to love that brought me joy and cleared my mind now felt like a chore I absolutely dreaded. After the first year of motherhood, I started to find myself, a rhythm, and a good routine. I landed my first job cleaning Airbnbs and stayed there for over a year. I enjoyed it so much and fell back in love with cleaning. I thought, 'I am good at this‘. I wanted to expand my knowledge about the different types of cleaning there was, and how to actually interact with people, ”I know such a basic skill”, but I genuinely didn’t know, talking to people made me so anxious before. I went for it anyway, and yes it was hard navigating something like this by myself at such a young age but it was something I was very passionate about. I knew people would relate to me, especially mums that felt the way I did after having a child. Within one month, I was fully booked and I haven’t looked back since. It’s been 2 years now and this job genuinely brings me so much joy and I absolutely LOVE what I do.
